Rushworth Bridge

D Form Civil were engaged by our client Bild Group to complete a bridge replacement project in regional Victoria. The project was to replace the existing bridge on the Rushworth-Girgarre Road, due to its age and size, with a larger more efficient bridge. The project consisted of demolishing the existing bridge while simultaneously constructing the new bridge in a timely manner to re-open that stretch of roadway.

The D Form Civil package comprised of the full formwork, Reo and Pour Package (FRP) of the new bridge structure. This entailed 2 bridge abutments, the bridge deck/kerb and diaphragm, the landing of the Super T beams, walkway construction with temporary handrail and 2 approach slabs. The team used the conventional formwork method for construction of the abutments which allowed for speedy construction and re-use for the deck/diaphragm pour. The team were faced with below zero temperatures during the construction of the deck and had to improvise by implementing thermal blankets to meet Vic Roads specification and deliver a high-quality finished product.

Cloverton Estate – Merri Creek

D Form Civil were engaged by our client Entracon in a new bridge construction package located in Donnybrook. The new bridge construction follows a large residential movement to the Northern suburbs of Melbourne with the increased volume of traffic in the area leading to the demand for a more sustainable free flow of traffic while also providing alternative access to all residents in the surrounding area.

Our team were commissioned to complete the scope of full formwork, Reo and Pour Package (FRP) of the new bridge structure. This involved the construction of 2 bridge abutments and wingwalls, 8 pier columns and 2 pier crossheads using a combination of a Peri falsework/Peri formwork system. The team overcame adverse weather conditions, which caused the site to flood numerous times, and were able to deliver the full package of works to a high-quality standard within the set deadlines.

Slate Quarry Road

Recently, we were awarded our first FRP Package for Bild Group – and we were absolutely delighted. Why? Because we were given the chance to work with their incredible team.

The project had a scope of 12 weeks and involved FRP of:
– Two abutment
– Two pier groups
– Installation and propping of pre-cast beams
– Concrete deck and slab placement

The impact of this work was quite significant, too. Slate Quarry Road became a major thoroughfare between the Midland Highway and Geelong-Ballan Road, with around 25 heavy trucks estimated to be using the new bridge every day – saving around 20 kilometres in travel!

As you can see, the list was long and the impact of the build was massive, but it would have never been achieved at the level it was without Bild Group. Together, planning was meticulous and teamwork was at an all-time high, resulting in a successful completion.
