DForm Civil were engaged by Mount Hotham Alpine Resort (MHAR) to aid with construction of a new potable water storage tank facility on top of Mt Higginbotham. The new tank will supply the Mt Hotham Village along with the snowmaking system at the Big D Ski slopes.

Our team was called in to complete the Form, Reo, and Pour (FRP) package for the new tank. This entailed:

  • The construction of a base slab
  • Circular formwork design for 21m Diameter Tank, 6m High
  • Installation and Sign off of formwork
  • Installation of reinforcement
  • Pouring walls in 2 separate pours
  • Landing of precast columns and panels for the roof
  • In-situ concrete conical roof section.

With the aim of completing the project prior to the start of the 2024 ski season, our team opted to move forward with a prefabricated Peri formwork system for the radial wall sections. Working alongside the engineers at Peri, we were able to design a system that would reduce the number of concrete pours, which in turn, helped us speed up construction of the water tank.
